April Gruber

April grew up on a dairy farm in her hometown of Beaver, Utah. After finishing high school, she
attended college in St George to study Medical Assisting. After graduating, she moved to Salt Lake City
where she worked for a large family medical practice. She later moved to Los Angeles with her husband
where she worked in a plastic surgeon’s office in Marina del Rey. From 2006 until 2015 she took time
off from her career and focused on raising her 4 children. April’s 3 daughters attended Vision and she
fell in love with the people, culture and atmosphere of the program. April decided to become part of
the Vision team in 2015. She has been a teacher at Vision for 8 years and is also one of the directors of
the preschool program. She absolutely loves teaching children and watching them learn and grow. In
her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and kids, exercising, gardening, cooking,
playing games and being outdoors.

I’m thrilled to be teaching at Vision again this year! I have a passion for education and love to see children succeed!  In 2003 I was the Utah State Sterling Scholar winner for Family and Consumer Sciences, Valedictorian at Bingham High School, and spent much of my Senior year of high school travelling to the United Nations and International Conferences speaking about the importance of families.  I later graduated  as the 2005 Valedictorian from Utah State University in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.  I spent two years as a research assistant developing reading and math curriculum for young learners.  I taught in Elementary schools in Utah and Virginia focusing on the Gifted and Talented programs before taking a break from teaching to focus on my family.  My husband and 5 children (with one more coming January 2023!) are at the center of my life and I’ve enjoyed the international journeys my husband’s job has taken us on.  I believe difficult experiences are valuable times for growth, and as a teacher I’m passionate about challenging minds to think in new ways and work through problems.  I love to read, exercise, hike, play games and I teach piano lessons in my spare time.  Teaching in a classroom is something I’m passionate about and I’m excited to be doing something I love! “The more that you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!”-Dr Seuss
